Description
David Hawkins’ Great Bardfield is a ‘what might have been’ layout based on a fictitious extension to the Colne Valley and Halstead Railway. The Colne Valley and Halstead connected Great Yeldham to Ongar on the Great Eastern Railway.
The model portrays rural Essex from the mid 1950s to the early 1960s. The operating sequence starts with all trains steam hauled with some mixed trains. By 1958 diesel locomotives begin to appear on goods services although passenger trains continue to be steam hauled. Finally the arrival of diesel multiple units completes the takeover.
P4 Gauge with analogue control.
